Roots + Blooms
Kendra’s love of family and a growing passion for farming is what led her home in the Summer of 2021. While her career is in education, her calling to farm had been tugging on her heartstrings for a couple of years, especially in 2020. When the opportunity to purchase a piece of the family farm arose, she knew it was God’s way of opening doors...or pastures in her case.
As the fourth generation land owner, Kendra decided her family’s deep roots needed an option to diversify. The desire to try something new, along with her love for plants and flowers, inspired her to create Roots+Blooms at Laurel Creek Farms. She has started small, with less than 2 acres of cut flowers but has plans to expand the crop plot and offer more options and an extended growing season. Her favorite cut flowers include: Zinnias, Carnations, Celosia, and Globe Amaranth.
She has said that there is nothing more beautiful than a sunset from the middle of the flower field. It is there that she finds peace and is humbled and grateful for the life lessons she’s learned. It’s only a small part of her journey, but Roots+Blooms has become the start of something that feels very close to a full heart.
A little bit about our logo….
Our logo features handwriting from her parents, Ken and Lisa with Ken’s “Roots” and Lisa’s “Blooms” merged to create a name that represents her home and family “roots” in addition to her love for beautiful “blooms” which serve as a reminder that blessings come as a result of hard work, faith, and a lot of patience. The butterflies represent the many beautiful visitors that are attracted to the flower farm but also loved ones she has lost whose legacy will always serve as her inspiration.
